Fire Up Your Genealogy Workshop — Elgin, IL

The Elgin Genealogical Society is putting on a one-year long workshop to help a person get started…or restarted…with genealogy research. Each monthly program will cover a different topic important to helping you further your research. The workshops will be held on the third Thursday of each month in the Community Room, first floor of the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Avenue, Elgin, Illinois 60120 and begin
at 7:00 pm. All EGS meetings are open to the public. The program schedule is:

Genealogy Session: Researching Your Swedish Heritage in Living Color Using Arkiv Digital on Saturday, March 22, 10 a.m. to noon

On Saturday, March 22, the Nordic Family Genealogy Center at the Swedish American Museum will host a genealogy session on using Arkiv Digital to bring color to your own Swedish heritage research. This presentation will be led by Kathy Meade, one of North America’s top experts in the field of Swedish genealogy.

Cost is free for Genealogy Center members; non-member cost is $10. Reservations appreciated. Wilmette, IL Family History Fair - March 22, 2014

The Wilmette Family History Center (2727 Lake Avenue, Wilmette, IL) will be hosting a free Family History Fair on Saturday, March 22, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. This year’s theme will explore the power of storytelling to strengthen and unify families. Presenters will include popular speakers from RootsTech 2014 in Salt Lake City (via video) as well as local genealogy experts.
