Clan McAlister Gathering August 6-9, 2020 Hot Springs Arkansas

The Clan McAlister of America (CMA) holds a Gathering every even numbered year for its members and prospective members. This year, the gathering will be held in Hot Springs Arkansas, August 6-9, 2020 at the historic Arlington Hotel Resort. We invite your membership with McAlister ancestry to consider joining us at the Gathering. One of our founders lived in Arkansas and a past Gathering was held in Little Rock AR, 1993.

The CMA is an incorporated non-profit 501(c)(7) family association for the purpose of sharing information on McAlister (of all spellings) families and descendants and finding links to family lines through genealogical materials, member submitted family stories and DNA research. At the Gathering, attendees can get help searching our collections, become familiar with the vast resources on our website, personally connect with other McAlisters and enjoy the social atmosphere of kinship. Highlights of the Gathering include expert speakers, lively entertainment, bazaar and banquet.

This unique opportunity is for anyone with McAlister ancestry. McAlisters immigrated into the Carolinas and settled in the South and Midwest, as far west as Oklahoma and Texas. We would like to meet new McAlister families and share our resources.

A Little History of Hot Springs
Hot Springs is located in the Ouachita mountains. It gets its name from geothermal springs that flow out of the ground at 147°. The Spanish explorer Fernando De Soto was the first European to visit Hot Springs in 1541. The United States acquired the area in 1803 as part of the Louisiana territory from France. In 1832 Hot Springs were designated as a national reservation to prevent commercialization. Hot Springs was incorporated as a town in 1876 and chartered as a city in 1879. Hot Springs National Park was established in 1921. The historic bathhouse row is a group of architecturally significant bathhouses constructed between 1912 and 1923. Experience grand southern style with walking distance to the bathhouse row and the National Park Visitor Center and Museum, art galleries, antique shops, unique restaurants and more.
