FIELD TRIP to ELMWOOD CEMETERY. The club will neet at the Elmwood Cemetery Chapel (824 S. Dudley, Memphi) for a short lecture on Elmwood with a tour to follow. For more details go to the Elmwood Field Trip Event on the Olive Branch MS Genealogy Club Facebook page.

The Olive Branch Genealogy Club meets 12-2 p.m. on 3rd Wednesday of each month (except December). No dues and all are welcome.

**Program: MTGS 30th Anniversary Celebration and presentation of Writer's Award for best article

**Speaker: Rick Warwick, newly-appointed Williamson County Historian. He has a wealth of knowledge and experiences in local history and genealogy. Rick Warwick has authored 18 publications on the Franklin and Williamson County, Tennessee, area. His subjects range from community histories to local decorative arts, and Williamson County during the "Great Unpleasantness" and Reconstruction. He is a native of East Tennessee, but has made his home in Williamson County since 1970. He taught at Hillsboro School for 24 years. His other interests are serving on the boards of Tennessee Historical Society, The Carter House, Carnton Plantation, The Heritage Foundation, and is presently serving on the board of African American Heritage Society. Rick Warwick is the recipient of the Caroline J. Cross Award, an award that recognizes leadership, dedication, character, creativity, and community service.

PROGRAM: TNGS Annual Spring Seminar “Melissa Barker, Genealogist and Archivist for Houston County, TN, will speak on the following topics: “Vertical Files. What Are They and How to Use Them;” “Manuscript Collections: A Hidden Resource for Genealogists:” “Preserving Old Family Letters: Tips from an Archivist:” “Scrapbooks: A Genealogist’s Gold Mine.” Melissa is a Professional Genealogist, lecturing, teaching and writing about the genealogy research process, emphasizing archives and records preservation. She conducts virtual webinar presentations all across the United States for genealogical and historical societies. She writes a popular blog entitled A Genealogist in the Archives. She authors a bi-weekly column, “The Archive Lady” for the GeneaBloggers newsletter. She is the Reviews Editor for the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) magazine FORUM. She has been researching her own family history for the past 26 years.”
